Ford 2012 Electric Car – Just In Time For Judgment Day!

Ford wants to jump on the Green bandwagon and spend some of that government alternative energy fund they are getting by experimenting with their BEV concept – Battery Electric Vehicle. As long as the Mayans don’t have their way, Ford hopes to bring their electric car to dealership lots by 2012.

Ford and Magna International Inc. have joined forces to perfect the first 100 mile range on a single charge vehicle – for now being dubbed “Project M”. Ford’s Escape Hybrid Vehicle is set to come out a year before the Focus Electric Car – but will probably not include as far a range. Still, SUV hybrids have sold well for Ford, as well as GM. Their new global Ford Focus platform for 2010 will be the electric car’s base design, containing no gasoline engine component. But does your average Joe-Sixpack commuter need a 100 mile range ride?

According to Detroit News and World Car Fans – “Ford’s BEV will likely cost much less than the Chevrolet Volt, whose starting price has been estimated in the $40,000 range.” Let’s see how much everyday working and business class people are will to pay for a Green American Ride.
