US Ford Fail – No New Ranger in the States
There’s been much chatter on world-wide automotive websites about the “global-marketplace” 2012 Ford Ranger pickup redesign as a replacement for America’s Ford Ranger. Well, that won’t be happening now. It may be another case of our obsession with larger automobiles, as the global Ranger sizes up under the North American Ranger and especially the F-150.

Ford’s global Ranger is a compact pickup, different from the old yet successful Ranger currently sold here. Originally, the mini-Rang was designed for Australian audiences, and later developed for worldwide markets. US production of Ranger is scheduled to end in 2011, leaving Ford to search for compact truck options. Ford shelved a lightweight version of the F-150 back in 2008, we may see it again a a future American pickup compact.

Good, this Ranger looks like a bunch of crap mixed together,a old datsun pickup bed and some sort of cars front end molded onto a pickup cab. I like the current ranger, but this doesn’t look like a tough truck at all. Who wants to but a truck that looks like a car? Not me… North America’s Ranger replacement deserves a unique pickup if this is what other markets desire. I have considered a new ranger but they are a bit small, this does not appeal to me at all, wouldn’t even consider it.
