In Case You Missed It – Ford’s Police Interceptor
Not since the days of Robocop has Ford’s Police Interceptor been a popular item. Looks like Detroit better get ready for…trouble…in 2011 as Ford released images of their Taurus police interceptor over the weekend. Ford has decided to replace its classic Crown Victoria police cruiser with the large, more powerful Taurus for the 2011 criminal hunting season. These vehicles will most likely use a SHO powertrain, complete with the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 and all-wheel drive. So next time you’re racing thru Peoria, Illinois in a Ford Focus, you’ll be pulled over by another blue oval.
At least we are willing to bet Taurus SHO will be on highway patrol duty. As far as local police (you know, the townies who pull over tourists and teenagers to fill a quota) can expect a regular front wheel drive 3.5 liter V6, minus the boost. Other assumptions can be made about the future 2011 Ford Taurus-based Police Interceptor, including upgraded suspension, cooling system, electrical system and brakes.
