Happy Birthday, Mustang
Today marks the 47th birthday for the Ford Mustang. In 1964, you could purchase one new for under $2500. Damn you inflation!
In almost 50 years, 9 million Mustangs have been purchased. The car was officially unveiled by Henry Ford II at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York. Since Mustang was officially launched mid-year, it gained the nickname “1964 and a half Mustang.”
By the end of its first production year, Ford sold more than 400,000 Mustangs. By March 1966, the company already built 1 million Mustangs.
